Public Meeting 17 May 17 – documents
Sunday, 25 Jun 2017, 14:14presentation, progress, publicWe held our promised public meeting on 17 May 2017 and 20-25 people attended. They were mostly from Gamlingay, but about 4 were from Waresley and Hatley.
There were two formal presentations: Jake Posner, our data analyst presented some of the results of the paper/online survey (401 responses); and I presented some of the data that we had gleaned from the survey with respect to people's preferences for Transport, Housing and the Environment. These three subjects have overlapping issues, of course.
I have attached copies of those two presentations, with addition (not presented at the meeting) of the Economic issues from Bridget Smith, but not of Sarah's general summary of how we are progressing with the NP in the Steering Group.

Progress with the survey
Wednesday, 2 Nov 2016, 18:24opinions, questionnaire, resultsThe Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group met on Tuesday 1 November in the Eco Hub to discuss progress with the survey. By then we had 104 online submissions of the survey and 169 paper forms completed. There were 1,500 paper forms distributed with the Gazette so we are on just over 10% completion rate for the paper forms.
Every Saturday during October there were advisers at the Eco Hub to help people complete their forms – if they needed it. If anyone still has any questions please use the Contact form to get in touch and someone will answer any queries promptly.

Results from the Village Show
Friday, 21 Oct 2016, 18:13opinions, questionnaire, resultsAt the Village Show volunteers in orange sashes questioned 65 hardy show-goers about their views on the future of the Parish. We covered a range key issues, such as village facilities, housing mix and location, transport, employment and the environment. Now you can see those results in full.
Here are a few highlights!
“82% of people rated the village’s facilities as good or excellent. 60% of residents think that we will need more if new housing is built.”
“56% say traffic is poor in the village”
“82% of people agree or strongly agree that the Neighbourhood Plan should set aside land for employment”
“91% say it’s essential or very important to protect the open countryside around the village”
Don’t worry if you missed your chance to have your say at the Village Show - you still have until 12 November to fill in our survey online or you can download it.

The Village Show
Saturday, 17 Sep 2016, 10:04opinions, partaking, questionnaireToday is the Village Show in Gamlingay, weather permitting, and there will be plenty going on. But in addition to the shows, the fun and the games, there will be a few of us on the Steering Group touring the site to ask questions of residents of this fine village.
The questions will relate to how we wish to see the development of the village. Development will come, so to make sure that we like the future shape of Gamlingay we must express our opinions and put them in the Neighbourhood Plan. The Plan is being developed by the Steering Group and we need the help of Gamlingay to shape it the way those who live in Gamlingay want it.
There will be only a few questions; the questioners will have bright sashes and will approach you with a smile to pose the questions.

South Cambridgeshire District Council continues hearings on the Local Plan
Monday, 29 Aug 2016, 15:41Local Plan, planning, SCambsDCFrom an article in the South Cambs magazine, "Local Plan hearings resume". There is a page devoted to the subject at:
https://www.scambs.gov.uk/examination-hearing-sessions
And the programme of hearings is a pdf file at:
https://www.scambs.gov.uk/sites/default/files/hearings_programme_v11_14_july_2016.pdf
This might sound like a dry subject, but planning has to happen somehow and the only way to exert any influence is to know about it.

The Future for Gamlingay – Planning Ahead
Monday, 29 Aug 2016, 15:18planning, progressThis is the blog, or diary, for Gamlingay–Future. It will chronicle the progress that the village makes towards a Neighbourhood Plan on which we can depend for future development in Gamlingay.
The process is likely to be a protracted one and it will need some perseverance on all our parts, but this blog should serve to keep everyone informed.
