Results from the Village Show

At the Village Show volunteers in orange sashes questioned 65 hardy show-goers about their views on the future of the Parish. We covered a range key issues, such as village facilities, housing mix and location, transport, employment and the environment. Now you can see those results in full.

Here are a few highlights!

“82% of people rated the village’s facilities as good or excellent. 60% of residents think that we will need more if new housing is built.”

“56% say traffic is poor in the village”

“82% of people agree or strongly agree that the Neighbourhood Plan should set aside land for employment”

“91% say it’s essential or very important to protect the open countryside around the village”

Don’t worry if you missed your chance to have your say at the Village Show - you still have until 12 November to fill in our survey online or you can download it.

Survey – making progress

We have 75 (online) responses in now, well done everyone who has taken the time to complete the online survey.

The paper survey will be out with the Gazette shortly; this is for those people who don't want to (or can't) complete the survey online. See the front page of the website for the drop-off points for completed surveys.

The Village Show

Today is the Village Show in Gamlingay, weather permitting, and there will be plenty going on. But in addition to the shows, the fun and the games, there will be a few of us on the Steering Group touring the site to ask questions of residents of this fine village.

The questions will relate to how we wish to see the development of the village. Development will come, so to make sure that we like the future shape of Gamlingay we must express our opinions and put them in the Neighbourhood Plan. The Plan is being developed by the Steering Group and we need the help of Gamlingay to shape it the way those who live in Gamlingay want it.

There will be only a few questions; the questioners will have bright sashes and will approach you with a smile to pose the questions.

South Cambridgeshire District Council continues hearings on the Local Plan

From an article in the South Cambs magazine, "Local Plan hearings resume".  There is a page devoted to the subject at:

https://www.scambs.gov.uk/examination-hearing-sessions

And the programme of hearings is a pdf file at:

https://www.scambs.gov.uk/sites/default/files/hearings_programme_v11_14_july_2016.pdf

This might sound like a dry subject, but planning has to happen somehow and the only way to exert any influence is to know about it.

The Future for Gamlingay – Planning Ahead

This is the blog, or diary, for Gamlingay–Future.  It will chronicle the progress that the village makes towards a Neighbourhood Plan on which we can depend for future development in Gamlingay.

The process is likely to be a protracted one and it will need some perseverance on all our parts, but this blog should serve to keep everyone informed.
